When I first stumbled accross The Economist GRE Course I was unsure about it because of the price. I had already taken the GRE two times and had been pretty discouraged because my scores where not good. The first time I took it, I was completely unprepared. For the second time, I bought a popular GRE review book and it did help, but my scores where still not optimal. I decided to try The Economist and it was very worth it! I wish I had found it sooner, it would have saved me a lot of money from taking extra GRE tests.
I purchased the ultimate package and used every feature I had access too. The lessons were extremely helpful as they were very thorough about every single concept contained in the GRE. You can ask questions about anyhting and the teachers really take the time to answer and make sure you understand. I really liked the practice tests, too. They were a great to see what I was weak in and provided explanations for every answer, so you can learn from your mistakes. Another great thing about this course are the one-to-one session. The tutors are really nice and have a lot of experience. I used up all of the sessions I had available and I learned a lot in every one of them. They also have essay grading available and it helped me improved from 4 to 4.5 in the anaytical writing measure.
Overall I went from 150 to 156 in quant and from 156 to 161 in verbal, and I think I would have done much better if I had devoted more time to study.
In conclusion, to all the people preparing for the GRE, for the first or subsequent times, I really recommend the The Economist GRE Course.

To provide context, I used Economist GRE Tutor when I was about to apply to a very competitive PhD program. It’s a science based program, and I consider myself to be pretty decent at math and OK in verbal. However, to be accepted into top programs, I know I’d need to land in the 95th or above percentile, so I figured it was smart to invest in a prep course.

I purchased the Ultimate prep because I wanted the higher score improvement guarantee + I wanted a lot of practice exams. During my first practice test, I score a 162Q and 159V. I found the Economist GRE Tutor to be top-notch. It’s adaptive, and that means that it focuses in on your trouble areas. Since I have a pretty good understanding of basic math and English, I whizzed through the beginning lessons, which were a good refresher. I felt like the practice questions that were thrown at me quickly got tough, which is exactly what I needed. I was afraid that I’d waste time on lessons I already mastered, but that wasn’t the case.

The practice tests were solid too. After you complete a test, you receive a comprehensive breakdown of what questions you got wrong and the reason for it. I only took advantage of about half of my live tutor sessions. The system for live tutor sessions is set up sort of like Skype. You log into your account and can video with the tutor right there. The tutors were helpful, clever and supportive. They genuinely seem to care how I perform. And I performed pretty well! One big obstacle for me during test day was my nervousness. I was so afraid I’d freak out during the exam, and the tutors helped me calm down. And I did great! I got a 164V and 168Q and I was thrilled.

Hi there! It sounds like you have already signed up for a free trial since you are familiar with the interface. That’s the best way to determine if Economist GRE Tutor is right for you. You’ll get access to at least several hours of content, depending on how fast you master the material, can schedule a 1:1 strategy session with a tutor, and have access to a free practice test. All GRE programs worth their salt will offer some sort of free trial, so my advice to you would be to test them out and see what program best fits your schedule and needs. :) Also, you are in the right place if you are looking for reviews:
