Supplementary angle of x= 180-x
Supplementary angle of b= 180-b

because of alternate exterior angle, Supplementary angle of x = y
y= 180-x
x+y=180

Because of alternate exterior angle, Supplementary angle of b = a
a= 180-b
a+b=180

Hence x+y = a+b
