Possible values of $$M = 2, 7, 12, 17$$,.....
Possible values of $$N = 1, 6, 11, 16$$,.....
Possible value of $$M + N = 3, 13, 23, 33,....$$,
Possible value of $$M*N = 2, 42, 132, 272,....$$
All of the values $$3, 13, 23, 33$$ and so on when divided by$$5$$ gives a remainder of 3
All of the values $$2, 42, 132, 272$$ and so on gives a remainder of 2 when divided by 5
option A

On a remainder question like this, the easiest way to solve the problem is simply to make a column of numbers that the variable could be. What's the smallest number that m could be? Many would say 7, but actually the smallest number that it could be is the remainder itself: 2. After all, if 2 is divided by 5, you get 0, remainder 2. Let's make some columns showing the first 5 possible values for m and n:

m -- n
2 -- 1
7 -- 6
12 - 11
17 - 16
22 - 21

Notice they increase by 5 each time. Now, for quantity A, if we add any number in the m column with any number in the n column and divide by 5, we'll always get a remainder of 3.

For quantity B, if we multiply any number from column m with any number in column n, and divide by 5, we'll always get a remainder of 2. Thus the answer is A.
