Starting from the sums within the parentheses, we get $$\frac{7}{2}*\frac{7}{4} = 7*\frac{7}{8}$$.

Can someone explain why the answer is C? Shouldnt it be E. Even if you just plugin the equation into a calculator the answer is E.

The correct answer is 49/8, which is the same as $$6\frac{1}{8}$$ or $$7*\frac{7}{8}$$, answer E. Notice that $$6\frac{1}{8}$$ is a mixed fraction and it is NOT the same as $$6*\frac{1}{8}$$ (option C).

You are right Bunuel. My mistake formatting the question. Often they are not so clear.

That way the answer is C. Not a number multiplied (*) for a fraction in the answer choices but five answer mixed fractions as answers.
