I'll try my best to explain, but it's hard without drawing everything out.
In order to find the area of the living room, we need to know the length * width.
As soon as we look at the picture, we can already find one side of the rectangle, which is 14.
The tricky part is finding the second side.
Looking at both sides of the diagram, we see the numbers 8' on the left and 18' on the right.
Subtract 8' from 18' on the right to see that the living room is 10'. We now have the other side of the living room.
Area of Living Room = 14 * 10
Area of Living Room = 140
Answer: B
