What little scholarship has existed on Ernest Hemingway—considering his stature—has focused on trying to unmask the man behind the bravura. Ultimately, most of these works have done little more than to show that Hemingway the myth and Hemingway the man were not too dissimilar (Hemingway lived to hunt big game so should we be surprised at his virility, not to mention that of many of the author’s—chiefly male—protagonists?). In the last few years, several biographies have reversed this trend, focusing on Hemingway near the end of his life: isolated and paranoid, the author imagined the government was chasing him (he was not completely wrong on this account). Ironically, the hunter had become the hunted, and in that sense, these latest biographers have provided--perhaps unwittingly--the most human portrait of the writer yet.
1.It can be inferred from the passage that the author considers the latest Hemingway biographies a departure from traditional biographies in that these latest biographies
A)focus on a much overlooked aspect of the writer’s body of work
B)depict Hemingway in a manner that is at odds with the myth of Hemingway
C)claim that Hemingway was similar to several of his chief protagonists in his books
D)suggest that Hemingway lacked the virility many associated with him
E)do not attempt to explore the link between Hemingway the man and Hemingway the myth
[Reveal] Spoiler:
B

2.Consider each of the choices separately and select all that apply.
With which of the following would the author of the passage agree?
A)The prevalence of scholarship on Hemingway is commensurate with his renown as a writer.
B)The latest Hemingway biographies consciously intended to show Hemingway’s vulnerabilities.
C)Until recently, Hemingway biographies had shown a similar trend.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
C

Someone has an explanation for Q. 1? I thought it would be E, since the passage states " In the last few years, several biographies have reversed this trend" and the trend being "most of these works have done little more than to show that Hemingway the myth and Hemingway the man were not too dissimilar"

You have grasped the right sentence to analyze. This sentence mentions that Hemingway as a myth and in reality were not very different hence the myth about Hemingway and his personality was similar. Therefore the new biographies are at odds with the myth of Hemingway because it shows a person who is not a big fish anymore.
Also the passage does not mention anything with regards to exploring the link between myth and the reality of Hemingway as an intention of writer. All the conclusion was reached without any intention and that all the prior conclusion on Hemingway happen to be similar to his myths.

in the second question, why B is false? "the hunter has become hunted"?

The key word for rejecting option B is "unwittingly" in the last sentence of the passage. The new findings were not a deliberate intention of the writers.

1. B. The key here is that we are talking about "a departure from the earlier biographies." While the earlier biographies show Hemmingway to be "not too dissimilar from the myth," the newer ones the passsage says have "reversed the trend." The trend effectively being showing hemmingway the man and the myth being rather similar. To reverse this trend would mean that the newer biographies are showing the myth of hemmingway to NOT be similar to the myth of him, which is what answer B states.

2. This is an "all possible answers" question so the veracity of each answer MUST be considered, unlike question 1 where we could find out what the question is asking and match the answer to the correct statement as a possible way to solve. A is incorrect because "little scholarship" exists despite his renown. Commensurate basically means "in equal portion," and so the statement in A is at odds with the passage saying that there isn't a lot of writing about him, despite being very famous. B is also incorrect because the passage says "the latest biographers have shown -perhaps unwittingly-" inferring that it was not necessarily a conscious effort on the part of the biographer, as statement B states. By knowing A and B are incorrect, we can assume C must be correct, but its still best to go through the thought process as to why (useful as finding C to be incorrect might make you rethink your logic for a previous statement and realize you made a mistake). "Until recently, Hemmingway biographies have shown a similar trend" is correct, with that trend (as stated in question 1's explaination) being the biographer showing hemmingway to be similar to the "myth of hemmingway." The answer is therefore C.
