Solution

According to the graph, 2 percent of the female faculty and 12 percent of the male faculty are in the engineering field. To determine the total number of faculty members in engineering, you need to add 2 percent of 200, which is 4, to 12 percent of 250, which is 30, to get 34. Thus, the ratio of the numbers of students to faculty in engineering is 275 to 34, which is approximately equal to 280 to 35, or 8 to 1.

The correct answer is $$Choice A$$.
