The value of a certain stock rose by 40 percent from March to April, and then decreased by 30 percent from April to May. The stock’s value in May was what percent of its value in March?

A. 90%

B. 98%

let us take the price of stock as 100 in march for convenience as we can easily get a percentage directly. There was a increase in its price and then a decrease so the final price would be $$100*1.4*0.7 = 98$$
