Given two sides 3 and 9, the third side of an isosceles triangle could be 3 or 9. But, given that no side can be less than the difference of the other two, i.e. 9-3 = 6, the third side must be 9. Then, we don't even need to check quantity B because it can be 6 or 8 and both are less than 9.
