Explanation

Factoring this quadratic equation gives you \((x + 5)(x - 4) = 0\).

For the first solution, x + 5 = 0, or x = –5.
For the second solution, x – 4 = 0, or x = 4.

Alternatively, you can PITA to determine which values will satisfy the equation.
