As seventh number is 31 and each number is 4 less than the immediate previous number:

• Sixth number = 31 + 4 = 35
• Fifth number = 35 + 4 = 39
• Fourth number = 39 + 4 = 43

Hence, the correct answer is option D.

This is a GMAT question. You should use only GRE material, though.

GIVEN: term7 = 31

Each number after the first number in the sequence is 4 LESS than the number immediately PRECEDING it.

This means, term8 = 31 - 4 = 27
And term9 = 27 - 4 = 23
And term10 = 23 - 4 = 19
And so on.

This also tells us that each term is 4 GREATER than the number immediately FOLLOWING it.
So, for example, term6 = 31 + 4 = 35
And term5 = 35 + 4 = 39
And term4 = 39 + 4 = 43

Cheers,
Brent
