The number 3 divides a with a result of b and a remainder of 2. So if we take 2 off a and divide by 3 the answer should be b.

$$\frac{a-2}{3}=b$$ or $$a=3b+2$$.

The number 3 divides b with a result of 2 and a remainder of 1. Similarly

$$\frac{b-1}{3}=2$$ or $$a=6+1=7$$.

Hence putting value of b into the first equation a=23.
