This equation can be looked at as representing the initial flat cost it takes to buy a fridge factory or something, which is $9000, and the fact that it costs $400 to make every fridge, and the fact that they are selling every fridge for $500. Anyway, you can pretty much just set the cost equation equal to the revenue equation:

9000 + 400x = 500x

Which leads to:

9000 = 100x

So x = 90. They need to sell 90 fridges to break even, and the answer is D.
