Taking the GRE in 3 months. Need advice! [#permalink] New post 08 Feb 2018, 23:57
Hi.

I've been going through the website and found ton of helpful info, especially the 3 month plan to study thread.

I want to confirm my resources though. I have:

-Official ETS GRE book (3rd edition): Is there a specific order to tackle on the chapters? I am going in consecutive order right now. What should be the main focuses/takeaways of this book??
-8 Manhattan GRE strategy books: I read that the verbal portion isn't too good. What is a free alternative?
-Manhattan 5lb book: Good for practice. Verbal section isn't that good (so I've read).
-Princeton Review 2017 edition: What are the pros/cons of this book?

I've been taking an online prep course and it's been very frustrating. It made me realize how much I have to polish up on the fundamentals/basics, especially the Quant. The verbal though, the only thing dreadful is the vocabulary. The good thing is that the school I'm applying to only requires a score of 300, but I'm aiming for at least a 320. Planning on taking it mid-April. Deadline to submit the score is May 15th. Feeling the pressure already.

Is there a particular thread on strategies and tips for each section? I already know for a fact that knowledge isn't enough. There is always more to it.

Thanks!

It looks like you’ve prepared with books on the top level. It is absolutely understandable that you’re feeling pressure and stress. Applying process is challenging and tough: you’re realizing that there are so many other potential candidates for the same program. A huge competition can be motivating as well as frustrating. Anyway, for your sake, keep calm and stay positive. Often we’re worrying too much where we shouldn’t and it just negatively influences on the outcome. So, study hard, keep your mind sharp, and believe in your success. Yep, there are a lot to study. But it’s your future education at stake.
