 Quantity A Quantity B Sum of the solutions of $$x^2 - 3x -10 = 0$$ Sum of the solutions of $$x^2 - 4x +3 = 0$$

A) Quantity A is greater.
B) Quantity B is greater.
C) The two quantities are equal.
D) The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

Lets factor the QA.
X^2 - 3x - 10 = 0
So the solution is (x+3)(x-5)
Or x = -3 OR + 5
The sum will give is 2.

Quantity B
(X-1)(X-3)
Solutions are 1 and 3. So the sum is 4.

Quantity B is bigger.

Shouldnt column A be (X+2)(X-5) = 0, hence x= -2 or +5

Yes,

the explanation above x=-3 is wrong. It is x=-2

But the OA is still B
