Hi everyone,

I took the GRE in 2003 - I didn't know anyone else studying for it at the time and only a couple of people who had ever taken it - it was really difficult to know how to prepare. There is so much information online now, and great forums like this.

I finished grad school (with a PhD), and I now work for GoConqr which makes study tools like flashcards and mindmaps. I think it would be easier to prepare now than it was then, but I know that it can be overwhelming!

Good luck to you!

Absolutely - too much choice and too much to weed through and figure out what's a distraction and what really is helpful. There are so many junky, worthless, gameification, apps, and videos that create an illusion of prep. They are decent tools if used as supplements but not effectve as stand-alone prep, and many of them market themselves as such.

My suggestion is always to focus on paid resource for your prep (it is only $100-$200 for the entire prep set of books or a course) but it will save you time, retaking the test, and lots and lots of frustration, let alone will get you in a better program.... don't try to save money on critical items. You can save on coffee, eating out, and on gadgets, and mobile phone, but don't try to cut corners on your prep. Good Luck with your GRE Prep!
