My total score is 316. I am confused whether I should consider retaking GRE or just be content with what I got? I am confident that I can improve my Quant score from 164 to 168 or ,if luck permits, even to 170. How do I improve my verbal score? I am a non-native. I learned nearly a thousand words for GRE. I have been reading nytimes almost everyday. When I used the free ETS test I got a score of 147 in verbal (before I started my preparation, so basically after all the preparation I improved my score by 5 points only). What else can be done to achieve a score of 160? If I do decide to retake, I can do so in next 21-22 days only? Is it even possible for someone like me to improve this much in such a short time? Am I running after a mirage ?
Another problem that I face is that my eyes become extremely tired and start to zone in and out of focus. I wonder if this happens to anyone else?

if you are confident you can improve your score by 4 points, then obviously retake.

There are a lot of long articles on the internet explaining how to interpret your score, here's a short version:

If you're a STEM major and looking for better programs, then practice your math and get that high score. There is a HUGE difference between 164 and 170. Even 168 and 170 are different.

If you're social science/history/arts, then don't sweat over that 164, they care relatively less.

Find average scores of the schools you want to apply to if you can, then you have an idea where your score is on their range.
