Explanation

30 apples at 40 cents apiece cost $12. Buying 30 apples at 3 per dollar would cost $10. Therefore, the sale price is $2 less than the normal price.

At regular price, 30 apples cost 30 x 0.40 = 12 dollars.

At the sale price, 30 apples cost 30 x 1/3 = 10 dollars.

So at the sale price, a total of 2 dollars is saved.

Answer: C
