A field trip was arranged so that this troupe of _________ dancers could observe the real masters of their art.

seasoned

fledgling

expert

torpid

novice

lithe

[Reveal] Spoiler: OE
Because the dancers are going to observe the “real masters of their art,” they themselves are not masters. “Fledgling” and “novice” both mean inexperienced. “Seasoned” and “expert” form a pair, in agreement with “real masters” but opposite the blank in meaning. “Torpid,” which means sluggish, might describe novice dancers, but can’t be correct because it doesn’t have a match. Similarly “lithe,” which means supple and graceful, is a great word for describing dancers, but lacks a match.

"A field trip was arranged so that this troupe of _________ dancers could observe the real masters of their art."

Meaning- Because the group of dancers are observing the real masters, the group consists of amateurs or inexperienced folk.

A- Seasoned here means experienced. Opposite to what we want.
B- Fledgling means inexperienced. Correct choice.
C- Expert means having great skill. Opposite to what we want.
D- Torpid means lethargic or inactive. Illogical in context.
E- Novice means beginner. Correct and good pair for fledgling.
F- Lithe means agile. Theme trap here associated with dancers but in retrospect irrelevant.
