Always read charts carefully. It's easy to look up the wrong information. In this case, we see that 1991's retail sector donated 8% of the total of $520 million. We need to find 1/4 of that and 1/2 of the remainder of that. There are several ways to do this but the order in which you find the answer can make it significantly easier. For example, finding 8% of$520 million and then 1/4 of that might be a little tricky. But finding 1/4 of 8% first makes it much easier. This is of course 2%, representing the money donated to the symphony orchestras.

For the public television: half the remainder of the 8% means half of the 6%, which is 3%. Since public television is receiving 3% and symphony orchestras are receiving 2%, there is a 1% difference between them.

Since 1% of $520 million must be$5.2 million, the answer is A.
