Jack set for a tennis club 15 kms away from his home. From there on he went to gym 8 kms away. How far is Jack now from his home, if he walks in a straight line everywhere?
A) 7
B) 23
C) 17
D) 8
E) all
how option D is true ?

The question is gym is 8km away from where? His home or the gym.

As far as I can tell this is not a GRE Question. GRE Questions are not this poorly worded.

'From there' is not necessarily the anchor point for the distance of the gym.
For example: From there(i.e. tennis club) on he went to gym 8 kms away. / From there on he went to gym 8 kms away (from his home).

Either way the answer can be 23 or 7 depending upon his direction of motion
