A ? B
1-(1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16) ? 1/16
Minus both sides by 1/16, we have:
1-(1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 +2/16) ? 0
1-(1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/8) ? 0
1-(1/2 + 1/4 + 1/4) ? 0
1-1 = 0 ? 0
--> A = B
--> C

 Quantity A Quantity B $$1-n$$ $$\frac{1}{16}$$

A)The quantity in Column A is greater.
B)The quantity in Column B is greater.
C)The two quantities are equal.
D)The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

$$n= \frac{1}{2} + \frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{8} + \frac{1}{16}$$

$$= \frac{8}{16} + \frac{4}{16} + \frac{2}{16} + \frac{1}{16}$$

$$=\frac{15}{16}$$

We get:
QUANTITY A: $$1-n = 1-\frac{15}{16} = \frac{16}{16}-\frac{15}{16} = \frac{1}{16}$$

QUANTITY B: $$\frac{1}{16}$$

Cheers,
Brent
