We are given that Marie earns $0.75 PER MILE. Since rate x miles = total dollars, we can create the following equation to determine the number of miles walked. 0.75 x miles = 18 miles = 18/0.75 miles = 18/(3/4) miles = 18 x 4/3 = 24 Answer: E _________________ # Jeffrey Miller Head of GRE Instruction Jeff@TargetTestPrep.com 41 Reviews 5-star rated online GRE quant self study course See why Target Test Prep is the top rated GRE quant course on GRE Prep Club. We can also use EQUIVALENT RATIOS
For every 1 mile, Marnie earns $0.75 We're comparing miles and money earned. So, one way to set it up is miles/$
We have: 1/0.75 = x/18
Cross multiply to get: 0.75x = 18
Divide both sides by 0.75 to get: x = 24
