Luke drives the first 300 miles of a trip at 60 miles an hour. How fast does he have to drive, in miles per hour, on the final 200 miles of the trip if the total time of the trip is to equal 7 hours?

Here,

First 300 miles, Luke drives = 60m/hr

Therefore time taken = \(\frac{300}{60}\) = 5hrs

Total time taken for entire journey= 7 hrs

therefore she must complete the 200 miles in = 7 - 5 = 2hrs.

So the speed she needs to travel for 200 miles = \(\frac{200}{2}\) = 100 m/hr
