The question starts with: the individual stories gives Reimagining Equality its narrative drive.

Hill's ________ from the youngest of thirteen children......

Hill has gone from being the youngest of children raised in RURAL area to become a law professor at an ELITE university. Since, this is describing the story of Hill. The gist of the story is describing Hill's path to success. In other words, her trajectory.

Even still Hill's story is touching, because her mother sent her off to college with only providing her a set of luggage which was even donated by a teacher.

The third blank has to be positive, since the teacher has donated something only either of pity or conviction that this kid has some potential. So, believed in is the correct choice.
