In the trapezoid above, AE = ED = 3 and BC is parallel to AD.

area of a trapezoid = $$\frac{sum of parallel sides * height}{2}$$

One of the parallel sides AD is divided into sides of 3 each so this side =6

and we can get the height as it is one side of the Pythagoras triplet 3-4-5 so height = 4

area = $$\frac{(6+7)*4}{2}$$
area = 26
