Since angles on a line must add to 180°, we can write: $$30 + x + y = 180$$

Since we are told that, $$x = 2y$$, we can replace $$x$$ with $$2y$$ to get: $$30 + 2y + y = 180$$

Simplify: $$30 + 3y = 180$$

Subtract 30 from both sides: $$3y = 150$$

Solve: $$y = 50$$
