So the ratio is 4:3 for Candidate A to Candidate B. We can use this to create an algebraic equation to look like this:
$$4x + 3x = 8400$$

Now we solve for x:
$$4x + 3x = 8400$$
$$7x = 8400$$
$$x = 1200$$

Plug in 1200 for x to solve for Candidate A:
$$4(1200) = 4800$$

The answer is $$4800$$
