X(1-30%) = 63 --> X*0.7 = 63 --> X = 63/0.7 = 630/7 = 90

Explanation

Because 30% less than x is the same as 70% of x, translate as follows: 0.7x = 63. Use the calculator to get x = 90.

Alternatively, solve on paper:
$$\frac{7}{10}x = 63$$

$$x = 63\frac{10}{7}=90$$
