A. 2
B. 3
C. 4
D. 7
E. 8

Here ,

$$\frac{1}{2x}+\frac{2}{x}=\frac{5}{8}$$

or $$\frac{5x}{2(x)^2}=\frac{5}{8}$$

or $$10(x)^2$$ = 40x (cross multiplication)

or x= 4

Explanation

Plug In The Answers starting with choice (C). Choice (C) yields $$\frac{1}{8}+\frac{2}{4}=\frac{1}{8}+\frac{4}{8}=\frac{5}{8}$$, so it’s the correct answer.

I am not sure my way is right but I simply found the least common denominator and solved for x

(1/2x) + (2/x) = (5/8)

The least common denominator is x so we can multiply (2/x) by 2 so both denominators are 2x.

(1/2x) + (4/2x) = (5/8)
(5/2x) = (5/8)
x = 4
