Since the distance between two ticks is always equal to 2^6-2^5 = 2^5 or 32, if we count back the ticks subtracting 32 for each one, we get that X = -3*2^5. Answer D

isn't it inc exponentially so we need to go back which is 2 on reaching X?

It is not increasing exponentially. The questions states that each two tick are evenly spaced so all the tick are distant 2^6 - 2^5 = 32 or 2^5.
