The average (arithmetic mean) of v, w, x, y and z is 12.3
So, (v + w + x + y + z)/5 = 12.3
Multiply both sides by 5 to get: v + w + x + y + z = 61.5

The average of v and w is 45.6
So, (v + w)/2 = 45.6
Multiply both sides by 2 to get: v + w = 91.2

What is the average of x, y, and z?
We need the sum of x, y, and z

We have two equations:
v + w + x + y + z = 61.5
v + w = 91.2

Subtract the bottom equation FROM the top equation to get: x + y + z = -29.7
Divide both sides by 3 to get: (x + y + z) = (-29.7)/3 = -9.9
