Here,

Michael takes= 12 min

Eamon takes = 36 min

Therefore if they work together, they will complete the job in = $$\frac{(12 * 36)}{(12 +36)}$$ = $$\frac{(12 *36)}{48}$$ = 9 minutes

This is a geneal formula,

If A takes to complete a work in = a mins

and B takes to complete a work in = b mins

Therefore together they can complete in = $$\frac{(a * b)}{(a + b)}$$
