If Michael can shovel all the snow of a standard driveway in 12 minutes, and Eamon can shovel all the snow of a standard driveway in 36 minutes, then working together, how many minutes would it take for them both to shovel all the snow of a standard driveway?

Here,

Michael takes= 12 min

Eamon takes = 36 min

Therefore if they work together, they will complete the job in = \(\frac{(12 * 36)}{(12 +36)}\) = \(\frac{(12 *36)}{48}\) = 9 minutes

This is a geneal formula,

If A takes to complete a work in = a mins

and B takes to complete a work in = b mins

Therefore together they can complete in = \(\frac{(a * b)}{(a + b)}\)
