We can solve the value by substituting different values of y and x and seeing if the condition x-y>x is met. By trying a few values we can get a basic idea of the relationship. (ie y<0)

If an integer y is subtracted from an integer x and the result is greater than x, then y must be

(A) equal to x

(B) less than 0

(C) less than x

(D) greater than 0

(E) greater than x

GIVEN: An integer y is subtracted from an integer x and the result is greater than x We can write: x - y > x Add y to both sides of the inequality to get: x > x + y Subtract x from both sides of the inequality to get: 0 > y In other words, y is less than 0

Answer: B
