If 3(x + 1) + 3(x − 1) = $$\frac{10}{27}$$ , what is the value of x?

1. 3

2. 2

3. $$\frac{1}{2}$$

4. $$\frac{-1}{2}$$

5. −2

Expand to get: 3x + 3 + 3x - 3 = 10/27
Simplify: 6x = 10/27
Divide both sides by 6 to get: x = (10/27)/6 = (10/27)(1/6) = 5/81

Are you sure you transcribed the question correctly?

Cheers,
Brent
