Defining Gita's age as G and Harvey's age as H, the information above can be translated into two equations

$$G = H+12$$
$$G+4 = 2(H+4)$$

Solving them, we get H = 8, thus in 3 years Harvey will be 8+3 = 11 years old. Answer B

We can let g = Gita’s age today and h = Harvey’s age today and create the following equation:

g = h + 12

and

g + 4 = 2(h + 4)

g + 4 = 2h + 8

g = 2h + 4

Thus:

h + 12 = 2h + 4

8 = h

So, Harvey will be 11 in 3 years.
