Could someone please grade my analyze an issue task out of 6 [#permalink] New post 23 Dec 2017, 08:07
The well-being of a society is enhanced when many of its people question authority.
Citizens of many countries across the world are fighting for democracy. The world has already realized the importance of this most accountable form of governance. Even though democracy has more odds in its favour, it still suffers from a few drawbacks. One of the major drawbacks is the constant questioning of authority by the country’s citizens.
Challenging authority on various issues causes rallies, protests and can also lead to political instability. A healthy and constructive debate can bring fruitful results. On the other hand, it can cause more problems if the issues aren’t addressed appropriately. In the long run, the interruption by society can prove to be useful as the government will eventually take the necessary steps in response to the society’s demands. The process of questioning authority does take up time but ensures the well-being of society.
On the other hand, the practice of questioning authority could be misused by specific groups of people to orient the government towards their interests. This can escalate internal tensions in the society. In extreme cases, this could lead to a civil war. The constant questioning of authority is one of the important ways in which the government becomes aware of its shortfalls and hence the citizens of a modern nation should utilise it in the most judicious way.
This practice is also useful for companies, corporations, organizations etc. It is by this practice that the organization gets to know its performance in the consumer market. This done by taking feedback of the customers, company employees etc. If an organization ignores the various feedbacks from the aforementioned entities, then it is bound to fail. This is analogous to government and citizens of a country.
Overall, it is important that an authority in any sphere of life should be questioned regularly for its own benefit and also for the benefit of the society it serves. The most vital reason why many people across the world are fighting for democracy is because they do not have the right to question the present regime.
