We need a set of $$5$$ consecutive even integer so chose something easy to work with
For eg. $$0,2,4,6,8$$

$$8-0 = 8$$
option D

Another approach,
If $$x$$ is the smallest integer than the remaining four integers are
$$x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8$$
Hence, largest - smallest $$= x+8 -x = 8$$

We can let the first even integer = 2 and the last even integer = 10, so the difference between the greatest and least is 8. This difference holds no matter which 5 consecutive even integers are chosen.
