Biologists generally agree that birds and dinosaurs are somehow related to one another. The agreement ends there. Hypotheses regarding dinosaurian and avian evolution are unusually diverse—and often at odds with one another. Confusion consequently reigns over a broad spectrum of unanswered questions dealing with avian origins and the biology of dinosaurs and early birds. This confusion has been exacerbated by a paucity of serious attempts to synthesize and evaluate available data on the details of avian and dinosaurian evolution. Too often, the job of summarizing current knowledge of these subjects has fallen to well-meaning but naïve lay authors or reporters. Consequently, both the public and the scientific community have often been misled by widespread dissemination of sensational but weakly founded hypotheses. .
For the following question, consider each of the choices separately and select \(all\)that apply

The passage suggests that which of the following could help remedy the problem described in the final sentence?

❑ An article written by a biologist for the general public summarizing current theories about avian and dinosaurian evolution
❑ A close examination of available data on avian and dinosaurian evolution
❑ A new hypothesis regarding the connection between avian and dinosaurian evolution

Explanation

A) This one is a bit tricky because a quick reading could lead you to B and C as answers but the OA is A and B. C is not the right one because is true, it will add only another hypothesis to the already crowded literature without creating a clear look inside the dispute.

B) Hre the word sensational actually means "a fanfare" but without a real fundamental or consistency truth.

i thought answer of second question would be "excellent" because opposite of "but weakly founded" must be something apparently "excellent".
so why its answer is dramatic here? :(

here the answers have two tones: one positive and one negative. You should be able to understand which side is correct and then pick the right answer.

Now, Consequently, both the public and the scientific community have often been misled by widespread dissemination of sensational but weakly founded hypotheses.

Focus on the bold part of the sentence. As such, excellent and eminent (which are positive) are wrong. horrifying is out of scope from the context of the sentence AND the passage.

False, we do not know because we are talking about hypothesis, which could be true or not. So we do not know for sure if they are false.

A is the best fit

Regards
