Quantity A: .20 * 5,000
Quantity B: .25 * (5,000 - Quantity A)
Since Quantity A is the monthly tax Bill pays on his salary, we can subtract that from 5,000 to find the remaining amount.

Quantity A: 1,000
Quantity B: .25 * (5,000 - 1,000)

Quantity A: 1,000
Quantity B: .25 * (4,000)

Quantity A: 1,000
Quantity B: 1,000

Quantity A is equivalent to Quantity B.

The answer is C.

Explanation

Bill’s tax is (0.20)($5,000) = $1,000. Thus, his remaining salary is $4,000.

His rent is therefore (0.25)($4000) = $1,000. The two quantities are equal.
