A picket fence is composed of x pickets, each of which is $$\frac{1}{2}$$ inch wide. If there are six inches of space between each pair of pickets, which of the following represents the length of the fence in feet?

A. $$\frac{13}{2} x$$

B. $$\frac{13}{2} x - 6$$

C. $$\frac{13}{24} x$$

D. $$\frac{13x + 1}{24}$$

E. $$\frac{13x - 12}{24}$$

Here the number of fences will be = 6 * (x - 1)
so,
$$6 * (x - 1) + \frac{1}{2} * x = 6x - 6 + \frac{x}{2} = \frac{13x - 12}{2} inches = \frac{13x - 12}{24} feet$$

** It can also be solved by assuming any value for x, and then compare with the answer the result will be same
