Explanation

This question tests the fundamental counting principle, which states that the total number of choices is equal to the product of the independent choices. The five separate test questions means there are five independent choices.

For the three multiple-choice questions there are four options each, whereas for the two true/false questions there are two options each. Multiplying the independent choices yields (4)(4)(4)(2)(2) = 256 different ways to answer the exam.
