a=b/2 and b=c/3
from here we get the ration a:b:c as 1:2:6 but we do not know the sign {+ or -} of a,b and c therefore the
answer is D cannot be determined

Explanation

To compare a and c, put c in terms of a. Multiply the first equation by 2 to find that b = 2a.

Substitute into the second equation: c = 3b = 3(2a) = 6a. If all three variables are positive, then 6a > a.

If all three variables are negative, then a > 6a. Finally, all three variables could equal zero, making the two quantities equal.
