The numerator has a common factor 59!
60! can be rewritten as follows 60 * 59!
59 ! Stays as 59!
Therefore 59!(60-1)/59!
59! cancels out. So we are with 59.
I dont see the answer so I guess I got it wrong.

\(\frac{59!(60 - 1)}{58!}\)

Simplify and the fraction becomes \(\frac{59*58!(60-1)}{58!}\).

Actually, we do have

\(59*59 = 59^2\)

D is the answer

YOU are wrong, the denominator should be 58! Otherwise, the answer would be 59.

The explanation indeed is right, there was a typo in the stem.
