500% a = 500 b

$$\frac{500}{100} a = 500 b$$

$$5 a = 500 b$$

Now to balance the equation a = 100 and b = 1

a > b

 Quantity A Quantity B a b

A)The quantity in Column A is greater.
B)The quantity in Column B is greater.
C)The two quantities are equal.
D)The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

GIVEN: 500% of a = 500b
Rewrite as: (500/100)a = 500b
Simplify: 5a = 500b
Divide both sides by 5 to get: a = 100b

In Quantity A, replace a with 100b to get:
QUANTITY A: 100b
QUANTITY B: b

At this point, it might be clear that Quantity A is greater.
However, if you're not 100% certain, we can subtract b from both quantities to get:
QUANTITY A: 99b
QUANTITY B: 0

Since we're told b is POSITIVE, we know that 99b is POSITIVE
So, Quantity A must be greater.

Cheers,
Brent

I think b does not has to equal 1. We have a fraction or ratio. so B could take other values as well as long as the ratio is equal. if a= 200 in which case b have to equal 2.

But the equation is enough to tell us that a is larger than b. a=100b

Yes. You are totally right.

I took as an example only integers. However, fraction should take in account because of the stem does nor specify.

I went straight because the result does not change.
