There are two values of b which satisfies the above expression.

b = -5 and b=1.

Hence D is the right option.

I am lost in this one. I plug in the values of the points into the distance equation √(x1 - x2)² + (y1 - y2)2. And I obtained b = -1 and b=-7. What I did wrong. Thanks for the help.

Can you show us your calculations?

That said, the distance formula isn't really necessary here, since the two given points have the same y-coordinate.
